I will be talking about how the U.S is losing its supreme power to other rising countries such as China. While i was researching i came across this article," The next 5 emerging economies that will change the world" by Max Fisher. It explains how China emerged with brazil and india to create a rising economy. They are slowly becoming one of the strongest economic strategy. China was once a country that was known as a poor one; however, due to their rise in economic power they are the 2nd largest economy. They even predicted China to surpass the U.S someday.

Project 2 topic

For my project 2 topic i am still indecisive on what i want to talk about. However, I have favored the topic on how the U.S is on hold while other countries are rising. I want to talk about how other developing countries are professing as a country. I want to talk about other countries improving economically, electronically, and how their culture is also improving. Then, compare on how the U.S has not provided any drastic progressions. The U.S has made little improvements here and there but they haven't proven they are not the Supreme Power lately.

I am still kind of indecisive about my Project 2. I have had a few ideas regarding my topics for Project 2 but i came across his article regarding human trafficking. This article was found on the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, it was called Human Trafficking a global problem. This article is basically informing everyone of what Human trafficking is. Human trafficking is a problem through out the entire world. Each country or state has their own laws regarding human trafficking. ICE is dedicated to stop human trafficking. They know it is a big deal and want it to stop. They know a lot of children pay others to illegally transport them to the United States of America and they usually have to repay their debts in forced labor. Some children are being forced to have sexual intercourse with strangers for money. They have stories in which people are being charged for forcing others to traffic themselves. They also give examples in which people were brought from Africa or Mexico and were forced to be prostitutes. This article really makes me look more into Human Trafficking since it sounds quite interesting to me. It is a global issue that is not just in the U.S but many more countries.

Zakaria’s and Friedman’s arguments

 Fareed Zakaria's and Thomas L. Friedmans arguments 

After reading both excerpts i felt like they were both interesting. I like it when certain articles, excerpts, letters, etc. talk about our country. It expands my learning when it comes to the U.S. Both excerpts were talking about the U.S and including other countries and that is what i like. Once you talk about the country i live in i give it my undivided attention. Therefore, i was really interested and enjoyed reading both excerpts from Fareed Zakaria and Thomas L. Friedman. However, i happened to find Zakarias excerpt more interesting. 

For instance i found that Zakaria was more persuasive in her article. I felt like using the 3 tectonic power shifts really showed a lot. It really gave me something to imagine. For example, the first shift was "The Rise of the Western World" it really helped me imagine everything being set up for the second shift. The first shift to me was an example of everything being prepared for the upcoming shift. Then the second power shift was "Rise of the United States" i totally imagined this right away since i know a lot of things from history. I imagined the U.S to be a power house. More like a big brother to all the other countries that were not as big as the U.S. Then that all suddenly changed when the third shift went in. That was "the rise of the rest". i did not even have to read along more because i knew what it was about. I never realized this until i read the third power shifts name. I have witnessed other countries grow out of what they used to be. They are not noticed but they are rising. The United States has been on hold for the last couple of decades. They have not risen any greater of what they were before. We can easily compare their electronics, culture, science, and politics to another country such as china. They even beat us in half the things. That is not what a superior country does? They can't be compared to another country they have to prove its dominance and sadly the U.S is not doing that.
In addition, Friedmans article wasn't persuasive enough for me like Zakarias. For example, Zakaria hit us with 3 main tectonic power shifts while Friedman would go back in forth with the Colombus expedition. I did not like how he would go back in forth with Colombus and the real world. I don't feel like Colombus's trip was that credible in order to compare it to the real world we live in today. He was going somewhere about India being very upgraded and the people they have in business, but i just feel like he should have shared to us reasons on how the U.S is stuck in time. I would have been persuaded more if Friedman had used the U.S before using India. I felt like giving us a brief overview of how America is and compared it to India would have been much better. 

In conclusion, i feel as if Zakarias writing is more persuasive since i can have examples for many ideas he can make. I witness a lot of things and see what his claims are tied to. I know this country is at stake of losing its supreme power, but I hope this country improves. I hope this country can get off hold and go back to work.

Pre Writing for Project 1

For my Project 1 I will discuss Dr. Martin Luther King Jr "I Have A Dream Speech". Dr. King has made a great mark in history for raising awareness in the civil rights movement. To put it bluntly, Dr. King was fed up with all the injustice laws against the colored people. He felt like this country was segregated and claimed that there was promises that were never acted upon. For example, in the speech he spake,  "This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. " In making this comment, Dr. King Jr. is explaining that promises were made in the Declaration of Independence but were never equally distributed. 

Dr. King Jr. did not like how the whites and the colored had different signs for one another. That was great proof of segregation. The way the government was treating the colored minority was unequal compared to the way the whites were being treated. However, when Dr. King Jr. delivered his speech it all changed. If he never delivered his speech or protested non-violently we might still be segregated, but luckily we had a great man like Dr. King Jr. who stopped segregation from greatly expanding.

Without his confidence and great ways of using authority he would have not been successful. When you listen to him speak, you don't hear hesitation, you hear confidence in a man. He presents everything with background knowledge. 

Therefore, I am more than eager to write my Project 1 on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His "I Have a Dream Speech" is one of the greatest speeches of all time which really shaped the U.S of what it is today.

Rhetorical strategies that are used in my Project 1 text

For my Project 1 I have decided to include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. " I Have A Dream speech.I have decided to write my speech on Martin Luther King Jr. ,“ I have a dream speech”. I have chosen this great piece of writing due to the fact that he has been a great inspiration in our lives and gave us the people a taste of equality. Without this man raising awareness for equality and having his dream in mind, we wouldn’t be living in the world we live in now. Overall, MLK was trying to spread equality throughout the country.

After reading the speech, I think the overall rhetorical situation seems to be Logos and pathos. I cant choose between either or I feel like reading it again will help me identify more of it. Little by little I will get the situation that is really being brought upon. All I need to find out about this text is what kind of rhetorical situation he is using.

Fallacies

I chose to descirbe a hasty generalization logical fallacy. It comes from the National Football League.com. The article," Six Free-agent fits that make sense" shares to us hasty generalizations about upcoming free agents that are going to hit the market. When players contracts are up from certain teams, they become either an unrestricted or restricted free agent. The team that still has possession of the player can either resign him or let him go. All teams have until March 10 to either resign the player or let him go. However, in the case people are just assuming that players like Julius Thomas and Cecil shorts are going to different teams and are not going to resign with their old team. Then they are assuming that they are going to different teams based on assumptions and not really facts. They aren't sure that the players are going to those new teams but they are assuming they are.

I believe that this article provides fans to think more about free agency and the different outcomes that can happen. I feel like this actually helps the fans to have more ideas of other players and see if they stay faithful to their team or run for more money. 

This article ties in with a hasty generalization because they are assuming that players are going with different teams based on other teams needs. They don't know whether they are staying with their old team, but are still assuming that some will go to other teams. They really won't know the real answer until March 10.
